Egg value
What one unopened egg is worth, averaged over everything it can hatch — not the jackpot figure everyone quotes. The gap between the two is 4.1× to 7.9×.

The number everyone quotes is the wrong one
Ask what a Snow egg is worth and you will be told what its best pet earns. That is the one outcome you are least likely to get. A roster has 8 pets in it, most of them nowhere near the top, and the egg does not know which one you wanted.
The more honest figure is the average across the whole roster. Below are both, side by side, so you can see how far apart they are.
Average value per egg, by biome
| Biome | Average | Best case | Best ÷ average |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forest | $288.88/s | $1.8K/s | 6.2× |
| Lake | $27.9K/s | $220K/s | 7.9× |
| Desert | $39.8K/s | $280K/s | 7.0× |
| Jungle | $445K/s | $3.5M/s | 7.9× |
| Snow | $8.8M/s | $65M/s | 7.4× |
| Volcano | $24.1M/s | $100M/s | 4.1× |
| Abyss Ocean | $18.3M/s | $130M/s | 7.1× |
| Prehistoric | $30.0M/s | $180M/s | 6.0× |
| Cosmic | $170M/s | $1B/s | 5.9× |
| Cherry Blossom | $321M/s | $1.8B/s | 5.6× |
The jackpot is 4–8× the typical open, everywhere
The last column is the interesting one. Across every biome with published income, the best pet sits between 4.1× and 7.9× the roster average. That consistency is worth knowing: whatever biome you are farming, the headline number overstates a normal open by roughly the same factor.
It also means chasing a specific top pet is a volume problem, not a strategy problem. If you want the best pet in a roster, you are buying attempts — which is why the egg spawn timer is worth more than any tip about where to stand.
A later biome does not always mean a better egg
Abyss Ocean averages less than Volcano — $18.3M/s against $24.1M/s — despite sitting behind a higher Speed gate (2.5M against 700K). The reason is roster depth rather than ceiling: a biome whose income rests on one strong pet averages worse than one with several, even when its best pet is stronger.
The practical read: clearing the next gate is not automatically an upgrade to what your eggs are worth. Best biome for pets ranks the same biomes by what they return for the Speed they cost.
Where the value actually multiplies
An egg's value is not fixed at hatch. Mutations apply a multiplier to whatever comes out, and because the multiplier is proportional it is worth wildly different amounts depending on where it lands. The same mutation on Kitsune is worth 1,800,000,000× what it is worth on Chicken.
That is the one decision on this page with a clear right answer: spend crystals at the top of your collection, never at the bottom. The mutations page has the sourced multipliers and the income calculator compares specific cases.
Biomes not in the table
Titan Temple and Angels and Demons are missing because no per-second income is published for those roster. Figures circulate, but they disagree with each other by orders of magnitude, so there is nothing here to average. We would rather leave them out than publish a number we cannot stand behind.
Egg value FAQ
How much is an egg worth in Steal An Egg?
It depends on the biome and on luck. Averaged across everything a biome can hatch, one Forest egg is worth about $288.88/s in pet income and one Cherry Blossom egg about $321M/s. The best pet in a biome is typically 4.1–7.9× that average, so the figure people quote is not what a normal open gets you.
What are the drop rates for biome eggs?
They are not published. No source we consider reliable gives per-pet odds for biome eggs, so the averages here weight every pet in a roster equally. Treat them as a rough comparison between biomes, not as a probability.
Is a higher biome egg always worth more?
No. A Abyss Ocean egg averages $18.3M/s against $24.1M/s for Volcano. Roster depth matters as much as position.
Should I hatch an egg or save it?
Hatching is the only way to find out what it is, and an unhatched egg earns nothing. The decision worth making is where to spend mutation crystals afterwards, since a multiplier on a high-income pet is worth far more than the same multiplier on a low one.
Where these figures come from
Per-pet income comes from the dataset behind this site. The averages and ratios are our own calculation from those figures; no drop rates exist for biome eggs, so nothing here is weighted by probability.
