How the Rift boss fight works

The fight is not a damage race against the boss. Crystals light up around the arena, andhitting the highlighted crystals is what drains its health — attacking the boss directly does far less. Players describe clearing a fight in a couple of minutes once they work that out.

The one thing that reliably kills you is the red circle it places on the floor. Move out of it. Everything else in the fight is survivable.

What the bosses drop

Three kills earns one Rift egg — the walkthroughs call it a Rift Born Egg. Kills also drop Boss Tokens, which are spent in the rift's own shop.

The item worth saving for is a mutation consumable. It applies the new Fractured mutation to an egg you are already holding, which makes it the first mutation in the game you choose rather than roll. How large its multiplier is still has not been published, so it sits in the applied-mutation table on themutations page with the multiplier cell left empty. The Dr. Scramble event of 19 September added a second consumable of the same kind, Scrambled.

Early Rift recordings also showed an exchange that accepted pets for exclusive eggs. This is historical: the lobby trade-in machine was replaced by Dr. Scramble’s Lab on 26 September. The new system takes its requested eggs directly. Read the current menu rather than sacrificing pets according to an old guide.

The Hungry Monster event has ended

The Rift update replaced it. Infested eggs no longer spawn and the monster is gone from the pen area. Pets hatched from Monstrous Eggs stay in your collection — there is just no longer a route to more. Therecord of how that event worked is still here.

What the recorded update date establishes

The gameplay sources for this page recorded the Rift release on 5 September. Roblox’s general “updated” timestamp is not a patch log: it can change again after release and does not prove the exact time a boss became playable.

Use the update time page for the next official event window. Neither this historical release nor an API edit time guarantees a future patch hour.

Can I still use the old lobby Rift trade-in machine?

The 26 September update replaced that lobby machine with Dr. Scramble’s Lab. Follow the Lab’s current request and submit unhatched eggs, not the pets used by the old machine. This change does not establish that map Rift boss portals have been removed.

What is the Rift update in Steal An Egg?

Shipped 2026-09-05. Rifts open around the map, and inside each one is a boss fight. Killing bosses earns Rift eggs and Boss Tokens, and the tokens buy a consumable that applies a new Fractured mutation.

How do you beat the Rift boss?

Damage the highlighted crystals rather than the boss itself — hitting the crystals is what takes its health down. Stay out of the red circle it puts on the ground; that is the attack that kills.

How do you get a Rift egg?

Three boss kills. The walkthroughs call the reward a Rift Born Egg, handed over once the third kill registers.

What are Boss Tokens for?

They are dropped by boss kills and spent in the rift shop. The item people are buying is a mutation consumable, which applies the Fractured mutation to an egg you are already holding. Two recordings show it going onto unhatched eggs; this page said "a pet you already own" until 20 September, which was wrong.

What is the Fractured mutation?

A new mutation introduced with this update, applied from a consumable rather than found on a wild egg. Its multiplier has not been published and we are not going to estimate one.

Did the Hungry Monster event end?

Yes — it was removed with this update on the date the Rift arrived. Infested eggs no longer spawn.
