How to gift in Steal An Egg

Pets and eggs can be handed straight to another player, as long as you are standing next to them on the same 7-player server. There is no trade window, which is the single most useful thing to know before anyone offers you a trade.

The short answer

Yes, you can gift. Hatched pets and unhatched eggs both transfer directly, player to player, with nothing to buy and no code to enter. The catch is that it only works at close range on a live server. There is no mailbox, no friend-list gifting and no way to send something to someone who is not standing next to you. Since the 12 September update, game passes can be gifted too.

How to gift a pet or egg

  1. Join the same server. Gifting does not reach other servers, so get your friend into yours first.
  2. Have the item ready. Know which pet or egg you are giving — check its size and mutation first, because there is no undo.
  3. Walk right up to them. The option only appears at very short range.
  4. Use the Gift prompt. One guide describes an [E] Gift prompt above the other player's character — press E on keyboard. Another describes choosing the item from your inventory and confirming. Either way there is a prompt to accept, and the item moves the moment you do.

The game-pass change is the new part. Two recordings of the 12 September update call out game-pass gifting as a fresh addition. The more thorough of the two also buys shop eggs and cash as gifts, and notes they only go to players on the same server, not globally. Those extra details come from that one recording, so they are marked as reported rather than settled.

Trading: why there is no such thing

There is no trade window in Steal An Egg. Nothing on screen shows both players' offers side by side, and there is no escrow holding items until both people agree. When someone offers you a trade, what they mean is that you each give the other something. That is two separate gifts, and whoever goes first has no protection at all.

There is no official value list either. The "values" passed around in community servers are estimates, mostly built from income per second, rarity and mutation. For what a pet actually earns, thepets database and the income calculatorare a better starting point than anyone's value chart.

How not to get scammed

None of this makes gifting a bad idea. High-level players routinely hand out spare pets and eggs for nothing, and a gifted rare egg is one of the biggest shortcuts in the game. The rule is only that a gift should never require you to give something first. For the other way pets change hands — someone walking into your base and taking them — seestealing and base defense.

Gifting FAQ

How do you gift in Steal An Egg?

Pick the pet or egg you want to give, walk right up to the other player on your server, and use the Gift prompt. One guide describes it as an [E] Gift prompt above the player; another as choosing the item in your inventory and confirming. The item moves to their account straight away.

Can you trade in Steal An Egg?

Not with a trade window. There is no two-sided trade screen and no escrow, so what players call a trade is two separate gifts. Whoever gives first is trusting the other person to give back.

Can you gift eggs, or only pets?

Both. An unhatched egg can be handed over the same way as a pet, so you can pass a rare egg to a friend to hatch on their own account.

Can you gift game passes in Steal An Egg?

Yes, since the 12 September 2026 update. Two recordings of that update point it out as new. One of them also gifts shop eggs and cash; that detail comes from that recording alone.

Can you get a gifted pet back?

No. A confirmed gift cannot be recalled, and there is no support route for undoing one. Only give away what you are genuinely willing to lose.
