How much money do pets make?

The short answer

A pet's income is fixed per species at default size with no mutation, and the published figures run from $1/s (Chicken) to $1.8B/s (Kitsune). That is a factor of about 1,800,000,000. Income accrues on the server whether you are playing or not, so the figure is per second of real time, not per second of play.

30 of the game's 110 pets have no income figure we are willing to publish — they are from the Titan Temple and Angels and Demons rosters, where the numbers in circulation contradict each other. They are excluded from every calculation below rather than estimated. Everything here is computed from the 80 figures we do have.

Three pets are 74% of all the money

This is the part worth knowing before you plan a collection. Add up the per-second income of every pet with a published figure and you get $4.6B/s. Of that:

• 74% comes from three pets — Kitsune, Unicorn, Oni Tiger
• 95% comes from the top ten
• The other 70 pets contribute 5% between them

So "collect them all" and "maximise income" are not the same goal, and past a point they pull in opposite directions. A pen slot holding anything outside the top ten is earning a rounding error next to one holding Kitsune. If you are deciding what to chase, chase the top of the table rather than the breadth of it.

What each rarity actually earns

Rarity correlates with income but does not determine it — the bands overlap, and a high roll inside a lower tier can beat a poor one above it.

Two things fall out of this table. The jump between adjacent tiers is far larger at the top than at the bottom, and several bands are wide enough to swallow the one above them — which is why ranking by income gives a different order than ranking by rarity.

Mutations and size multiply it

The figures above are the base. Two multipliers stack on top, and because they are proportional they are worth far more on a high-income pet than a low one:

Per-second figures are hard to feel. These are the same numbers as wall-clock time, for the best and worst pets in the game:

Both columns assume a single pet. A full pen divides every figure by however many slots you have earning at once, which is the one lever that applies no matter which pets you own.

Where the money goes

Income is not the goal in itself — it buys treadmill upgrades, which buy Speed, which unlocks biomes holding better eggs. That loop is why the top of the income table matters more than the breadth of it: a pet that earns 1,800,000,000× more does not just make you richer, it moves you through the Speed gates that hold the next tier of pets.
